What is Agua Fresca
But what is agua fresca anyways? Agua fresca is a Mexican drink that literally translates to “fresh water”. It’s not only water, but mixed with fruit and sometimes other flavorings. So it’s basically like a refreshing juice. Just enough flavor to taste great, but with less sugar and more water to keep you hydrated.
While traditional Agua Fresca combines fruit with water, we used only fruit. Since watermelon is about 96% water, you don’t want to add more water. So if you do use other types of fruit, adjust the ratio of water. This will vary depending on the sweetness of the fruit.
Lastly, remember that there are no rules to Agua Fresca. So it really comes down to personal preference of sweetness, and water content.
