Vegan golden milk lattes are a cozy warm drink that we like to drink on a cold day snuggled in a blanket and reading a book. If it is summer, or we are in a warmer climate we prefer to make an iced golden milk beverage. Hot or cold, you are sure to get a natural buzz of this spiced antioxidant cocktail.

Turmeric has been used in India for thousands of years as a medicinal herb and spice. Curcumin is the main active ingredient in tumeric, which has powerful anti-inflammatory effects, and is a very strong antioxidant. By adding black pepper into this latte, it helps the body absorb curcumin.

Apart from inflammation and toxicity, turmeric can improve brain function, lower risk of brain disease, lower risk of heart disease, help prevent cancer, help prevent Alzheimer’s disease, reduce arthritis pain, decrease depression, and fight against chronic diseases.

As for cinnamon and ginger, we could write essays about the benefits of these. Similar to turmeric, cinnamon and ginger contain powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties as well. How to Make Iced Golden Milk Latte

Are you living in a hot climate? Or do you just prefer cold beverages? Try our turmeric latte recipe over ice. Simply make the recipe as instructed and pour over ice! If you do not want to water the flavor down as much, and keep a more bold drink, simply use less plant milk, which will be replaced by the ice.

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Cups Plant based milk (We used kirkland vanilla soy milk)
  • 3 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Ginger powder
  • 1/2 tsp Cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 tsp Clove powder
  • 1/4 tsp Cardamon powder
  • 1/8 tsp Black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp Coconut oil
  • 2 Tbsp Maple syrup
  • 1 Pinch Nutmeg

Instructions
 

  • Pour milk into a pot and set to simmer.
  • Whisk the turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, cardamom, and black pepper to the milk.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  • After whisk in the coconut oil and maple syrup.
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for another 2 minutes.
  • The Golden milk is now ready to serve with a pinch of nutmeg!

Optional

  • Froth using an electrical frother.
